ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

Cities are at the center of major environmental and climate challenges, and their ability to manage territory and natural resources is crucial to their future sustainability. In this context, the sessions in this track will explore how urban environments can move toward development models that integrate biodiversity protection, environmental management, and energy transition as core elements of urban planning.

The discussion will focus on strategies to re-naturalize urban spaces in order to restore biodiversity and strengthen the ecological function of the territory, alongside the adoption of nature-based solutions and climate change adaptation measures.

It will also explore environmental management strategies related to essential public services such as water supply, sanitation, waste management, and air quality, understood as key infrastructures for health, resilience, and territorial balance. Finally, it will address the challenges and opportunities associated with the transition toward more sustainable energy systems, including energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy, and new models for energy production and management in cities and territories.

The integrated approach of this track will provide insight into how actions across biodiversity, environmental management, and energy can reduce impacts, protect ecosystems, and improve quality of life, fostering more resilient, responsible, and environmentally aligned cities.
