The ability of cities to respond to complex challenges largely depends on how their institutions innovate and integrate technology and creativity into public management and urban development. This track will focus on the role of public innovation and emerging technologies as tools to transform the relationship between governments, territory, and citizens, while also incorporating digital creativity and culture as key dimensions of urban innovation—strengthening city identity, attracting talent, generating economic activity, and fostering citizen participation.
Through this track, the strategic use of data and artificial intelligence will be addressed, with particular attention to urban innovation labs as key spaces for experimentation, evidence-based decision-making, and the design of more precise public policies tailored to urban realities. It will also explore new forms of technological innovation applied to public management—GovTech—aimed at improving decision-making, optimizing public services, and designing more efficient, transparent policies aligned with urban needs. In addition, it will examine models of open innovation, experimentation, and collaboration among the public sector, private companies, academia, and civil society.
This track offers a perspective that connects innovation, creativity, and technology to better understand territories and design solutions that are more sensitive to social and cultural dynamics. It highlights creativity expressed through digital cultural forms such as media arts, including videomapping and animation, and their connection to the smart city vision. Ultimately, it promotes the transition toward more dynamic, open cities that are better prepared to face present and future challenges through smarter, more creative, and collaborative urban management.
