SMARTCITY EXPO CALI

What is the event about?

Smart City Expo Cali is an event promoted by Fira Barcelona International and driven by the world’s leading event, Smart City Expo World Congress, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Santiago de Cali. This first edition, taking place on September 30 and October 1, 2026, at the Centro de Eventos Valle del Pacífico in Valle del Cauca, aims to position Cali as a leading Latin American benchmark in urban innovation linked to sustainability and biodiversity.
Under the theme “Bio-intelligent cities: innovation for life,” the congress is designed as an international meeting point to rethink urban development from a bio-intelligent perspective—an approach where technology, nature, and urban life are seamlessly integrated to generate well-being, resilience, and new opportunities for all communities. It creates a space where biodiversity, sustainability, urban planning, technology, and innovation converge. Within this framework, urban intelligence is not defined solely by sensors, data, automation, or digital infrastructure, but by cities’ ability to adapt, regenerate, and sustain life in all its forms.

Cali, nestled among high-value ecosystems such as the Farallones, the Cali River basin, the Pance and Meléndez rivers, and extensive rural areas within the municipality, stands as a living laboratory where urban infrastructure, biological richness, and civic culture intersect. In this context, this first edition will highlight biodiversity as a strategic axis for urban planning, mobility, environmental management, and public innovation, positioning the city globally for its commitment to protecting and enhancing its ecosystems. This aligns with ongoing projects such as the Green Corridors, watershed restoration, the commuter train, the Urban Innovation Lab, and solar energy and clean mobility initiatives, all of which demonstrate how the city is shaping its transformation based on its living territory
